to the house, which is controlled by republicans, and an effort will be made to neuter the senate bill. it's a merry go round back and forth and back and forth. if a resolution is not reached, it's possible that no money will be allocated for anything. thus, the government would have to shut down. there is bitterness all over the place. >> and now you want to threaten to note only shut down our government but to blow up the world economy unless we go back and undo what we did according to the processes of our democracy? how dare you? >> bill: that sill low question posed to republicans, of course, many in the g.o.p. reply this way. >> well, we have to think about when we think about obama care we have to think about do you believe in freedom or coercion? obama care is riddled with mandatory, mandatory this, mandatory that. i think there are several hundred mandates.

when you hear the word mandate, that's not freedom. that's your government telling you you have to do something. >> bill: the problem with the debate is that the affordable health care law was passed ely and the supreme court upheld it. but now there is buyer's remorse from the american public. all the polls say majority of americans do not want obama care because they think it will hurt them. initial evidence says that may be true. here is a partial list of companies and enterprises that are cutting back hours for workers who have higher healthcare costs. wal-mart, trader joe's. subway, sea world san diego. dave and busters, lands end, white castle, taco bell, home depot, wendy's, five guy's burgers theme park in pennsylvania. afford it hourly workers are getting hammered ironically obama care is aimed at helping those people. nevertheless, the president is standing firm. >> over the last few weeks, the rhetoric has just been

cranked up to a place i have never seen before. one congressman said that obama care is the most dangerous piece of legislation ever passed. think about that. affordable healthcare is worse than a law that let's slave owners get their run away slaves back. these are quotes. i'm not making this stuff up. >> bill: there has been hysteria over obama care no question. but it's not just on the right, mr. president. many of your supporters have entered the land of lunancy. >> we are not going to bow to tea party anarchists who deny the mere fact that obama is the -- obama care is the law. we will not bow to tea party anarchists who refuse to accept the supreme court ruled obama care to be constitutional. >> we are for cutting spending. rewe are for reforming

entitle thes. not we what we are not for is negotiating with people with bomb strapped to their chest. >> talking points believes there should be a compromise. senator joe manchin democrat from west virginia says he would support a one-year delay for folks who do not want to be forced into the obama care arena. but the truth is, the senate and the president will never never going to do it. physical a compromise is not reached. >> break down essential services across the board a place completely out of control. there are some americans who don't care. but most of us do care. we don't want scorched earths and we don't want a government shutdown that would directly hurt many of our fellow citizens. so, it is that president obama and the republican leadership in congress must sit down and hammer out a

followed -- too many people followed ted cruz down a dead end street. i still think what is going to happen tomorrow is the house republicans will probably -- i'm just guessing now we will probably send back the legislation to the senate with some light changes made and hopefully then it can be worked out. >> bill: tell me about what those changes might be because that is obviously the essence of this whole thing. if the house votes tomorrow. and on changes, what would those changes be? >> bill, i'm not sure what they would be. this is going to have to be between the leadership. again, we have people in our party who will not settle for anything less than the total dismantling or defunding of obama care. i don't know it's going to be hard for us to get to 218 votes. harry reid figures he is holding the cards right now. it's going to have to be something which significant enough that we can get 218 either republicans or get democrats to join us. i really don't know how this is going to work. we are in a terrible terrible situation.

>> bill: now, congressman, how do you see it coming down this weekend? >> well, first of all, we do have to find the common ground to work this out. i know we can. first of all, look. what's happening is that everybody is being concentrating on the healthcare. and two extremes are saying one extreme is saying repeal or defund the whole thing. it's not going to happen. and the other side, there are some people saying don't change one single word of the healthcare law. that's not the way the process works. if you look at it, we have changed seven things of the healthcare law. we can do more to make those changes and focus on making sure that we have a budget. >> all right. so you are willing as a democrat, you are willing to compromise and find some ground. i think the best thing would be what manchin said today that people who wanted to opt out as they have given a lot of corporations and a lot of other entities the option, well, you don't have to do it this year. we will give you 12 more months to get it together or whatever. then we would see who how

the basic obama thing is going to come down. would have the option not to participate. the american citizen would. i think that would be a good compromise and then the people vote in 2014 for a new congress and they would say yes or no on obama care. does that make sense to everybody? congressman king? >> it makes total sense to he me. i would vote for that in a minute. do i have to come down there then that sounds like a compromise to me. >> put us in a room we can resolve this in five minutes. less than that hot headed people in both parties. right now each of them sees with this deadline approaching they almost have a veto power over what happens. i think it's important for us in the republican party. >> bill: talked about on the table. if that were put on the table by the speaker of the house or something else, that you give americans a year, they don't want it, we will give them a year, and then we will see how it all comes down and then there will be a vote and then everybody -- i don't think you could vote against that, congressman, do you?

>> keep in mind that the supreme court has already looked at n mind that mitt romney ran on repealing the whole thing. there is seven changes we made to the healthcare law. let's look at other things. but let's not hold hostage the appropriation of the budget itself. >> bill: do you agree with senator manchin from west virginia, congressman cuellar? would you vote for that? congressman king says he would. did you delay the individual mandate for a year so the individual could go in october 1st and sign right up. but the ones who don't, they get a 12 month reprieve to see how it all shakes down and to let the people vote november 14. would you vote for that congressman? >> at this time i don't know what else is going to be part of it. i do want to sit down and look. >> you are waffling on me. come on, congressman. would you vote for that or not? >> i am telling you that we need to look at the whole picture and see what we can repeal and what we can

modify i think that would be the fairest. everybody would understand it everybody would pass. whatever. congressman king have you been brutal toward ted cruz. cruz, i think is sincere in what he does. he thinks it's destructive bill. >> i don't. >> you think he is a phony? >> yes, i certainly do. i will tell you why, bill. he has been saying all summer all we have to do in the house if we voted to defund it, it would be -- that would defund it for the year. he knew all along that harry reid and the democrats would never agree to that he knows that president obama will never agree to it and, yet, he was acting as if so long we voted for this in the house it would happen. we knew it wouldn't happen. john boehner knew it wouldn't happen. we could have started three two or three weeks ago negotiating part of the obama care bill that we thought should have been modified or removed or taken out. ted cruz is insisting and working with people unfortunately in my republic conference insisting on either his way

or the highway there was no alternative allowed. he knew this was a phoney. he knew it was a fraud and he persisted on pushing it i have no patience for this guy at all. we made a tremendous mistake in allowing him to get out front and set policy for us. >> bill: what do you say about that congressman. >> first of all, peter king and i could work this out like we did in homeland security some times. i'm just enjoying watching the republicans have this conversation. >> bill: that's kind of is a disstick now isn't it, congressman? >> no, no, no. >> here now is the truth teller. fox business anchor lou dobbs. is that true? 100 million americans have new benefits under the law? >> well, they do have 100 million people do have benefits of some sort if it's ever inacted. right now, these 100 million folks as the president styles it. we have 30 million people who don't have coverage, let alone benefits. >> but they have after january 1st, right? if they sign up. >> i have to qualify that most projections say they will not have. in fact, this began as a debate about how we would spend 900 billion. it turns out to be 1.8 trillion. >> bill: if they sign up to the exchange, then they will have it. so it is getting them out of the house or the crack house or wherever they are to get it to sign up. but if they sign up, they have it. >> they would have it. and the price is going -- i mean, we are talking about real sticker shock here for

a lot of people. the president keeps talking about trillions of dollars that will be flowing their way. trillions of taxpayer dollars will be spent over the decades. but this money is going to, for most people, except for the very -- the very poor and older americans is going to cost a fortune. >> bill: all right. so guys like you and me -- >> -- we're on the hook. >> we are going it pay more. according to forbe's magazine, younger men 27 and down, okay? their health insurance premiums are going it rise about 100% or more obama care, correct? >> doubling for young people. >> so what they do now, if you are younger person. women as well. age 27 and down. they go up 50%. >> right. and in some states, we're going to see obviously some differences. but these are numbers that rise astronomically for some. particularly men who have been actually had a very good deal in terms of premiums over the years. they are going to get hit very hard. >> okay. and then 40-year-olds are

going to face 100% increase in some states and in north carolina, 300% increase. why so much different in north carolina? >> because, various states have different regulations for the insurance industry. they have reasonable plans with high deductibles that people have lived with for years. the marketplace works in many of these states despite misrepresentation. >> so now, if you don't sign up, you just pay a small fine, so it's worth it for a lot of these younger people not to sign up for the exchange, right? >> it's worth it to them but it is immensely profitable to many of their employers to say get to those private exchanges, we're ending all of this employer sponsored healthcare. >> bill: just not going to do it. you saw in the talking points where he listed all the companies that are just saying we are not going to have full-time workers. so, right now, and i'm not an expert on this. and by the way, to be fair, if you are an older person, 64 and up, and you don't

make a certain amount of money, then you are going to be doing well under obama care. you are going to get the subsidies and if you are poor you will get subsidies as well. >> the number we have used has run up to 64, 65. medicare kicks in. and that is going to be a real contest going forward. >> okay. the money that might be taken from medicare and put into obama care. >> bill: looks to me like auto% of americans will pay more and 50% will not. that's what this looks like here. >> roughly. >> roughly. so then now, people have to make a decision. this thing is so chaotic and such a mess, nobody knows what's in and doctors going to see. medical appointments, don't know any of that. >> we know this 1.8 trillion latest estimate from the congressional budget office more than double what we had been led to believe. >> that's what the government is going to spend on this? >> correct. >> they will get some money back on that, right? we are going to be paying more? >> that's why we are paying all of these new taxes.

>> bill: it's not a debt. >> burden shift. >> they have to raise the money to pay it. >> this president said we would see the cost as you are talking about it decline. we are he seeing the cost of healthcare in this country rise. >> for some declines for others. >> in general. >> 18.5% of our g.d.p. now is going to healthcare. the nearest country is the netherlands with 14%. >> you saw me in the segment before you solve this whole problem. >> i did. so close. >> bill: would you buy into that? give a year waiver on the individual mandate until we see how it all shakes down then people are going to vote in 2014 that could vote the democrats out that seems to me to be ballot box and reality, we heard nancy pelosi say initially if you want to know what's in this bill you have to pass it mark warner if you want to know what's in this law.

answer it all right? i never would ever answer it in way way if i don't know that person. no way. because it's too dangerous. why can't these people figure this out? >> you know, the first thing i thought of when i saw that cory booker had been tweeting with a stripper, a vegan stripner portland, oregon, i thought that cory booker's campaign planted this because they wanted to dispel all the rumors that he was gay. north that there is anything wrong with that but he is very an drod news never came out and said is he not gay or straight or one are 00 other. i thought it was kind of counter intuitive what they were putting out there. then when i read the tweets themselves they were pretty i didn't know knockous. now to your point, i remember when email first hit and i was getting emails from people that appointed my life when i was very receptive to be flattered and the rest of it. i answered back it turns out it was fraught with complication. thank god i didn't have these things when i was a younger person. there is a seduction about it you get flattered. you are this, you are that.

cory booker for a second. >> i think, you know, how you follow somebody on -- remember, i was going to run for senate against cory booker in new jersey so i followed him on twitter. cory booker exists in the digital, virtual world there are times when in a single hour he would send out 20 or 30 tweets. this is in a city. newark, new jersey, where he is nominally still the mayor where they at one point earlier in september and at the end of august, they had a murder a night in the city of less than a quarter of a million people. cory booker was out tweeting to celebrities who passed on, rest in peace so and so. rest in peace so and so. why wasn't he at the scene of the homicide. he was existing in that digital world rather than in the grimy, you know, bear knuckle hard scrabble streets of newark, new jersey. therein lies the problem. and you reference children with ipads and so forth

you exist in that level for 140 characters. this one is a nun, this one is a stripper. this one is a world leader. this one is a husband ley who wants -- lust ler who wants to get you signed up for this, that, and the other thing. therein lies the danger. how could a person be a high elected official, a senator of the united states, the most deliberative body on earth when you are all day long not even looking up to see what the scenery is you have got your face buried in your iphone. >> bill: a lot of people corporate chief domes, a lot of people are addicted to this stuff it is addicting. because it's constant stimulation coming in to you. >> as a father of five, don't you tell your children lay off. you can't. >> bill: of course i do. i will tell what you though. it's on their minds every second. every second it's on their minds.
